Ludner
Confident was born in the
coastal town of Petit-Goave, Haiti in March of 1949.
From early childhood, he seems to have been destined for
a dual engagement with healing hearts and visual arts.
He was fascinated by the magic of scientific medical
healing, and at the same time, was drawn by the
creativity in all artistic activities.
For him, it was only natural to get involved
in music, dancing, wood carving, ceramics, drawing,
painting. As a child, he crafted his own flutes,
miniature cars and houses, Christmas cards and lanterns.
As a teenager, he studied music, and took advanced
classes in drawing and oil painting at the art center "Poto
Mitan" in Port-au-Prince. He loved painting even though
he could not think of anything more intellectually and
emotionally rewarding than restoring heath and saving
lives.

At 18, he
traded his palette and canvas for medical textbooks, his
brushes for scalpels, and his paint for anesthesia
drugs. Over the next sixteen years, the practice of
medicine absorbed him, but his love for the visual arts
kept burning as glowing coals within.
When he resumed painting, he started to share his
passion for music, sports, nature's beauty as well as
his thirst for spirituality. He could not wait to
express his concerns about certain moral, social,
political and environmental issues. Working in bright
colors and vivid images, the artist uses scenes from
life or nature to convey his message, and bring his hope
for the world to the canvas.
He creates striking paintings that are admired
everywhere, and that will endure. They are remarkable
representations of life as it its and as it should be,
and at the same time, send a personal statement.
